The Iranian Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance is participating in the first Tehran Book Fair Fellowship with a 25-billion-toman grant to support the translation of Iranian literary works into other languages.
According to the press office of the 36th Tehran International Book Fair, the inaugural Tehran Fellowship will open at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, May 14, coinciding with the sixth day of the fair. The event will host 31 international guests from 20 countries at the book fair venue.
The opening ceremony will be attended by foreign ambassadors participating in the fellowship, as well as representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. These guests will arrive in Iran on Monday, May 13.
The head and spokesperson of the book fair, members of the Publishers’ Cultural Association, and a group of Iranian authors and illustrators will also be present. The Minister of Culture, Seyed Abbas Salehi, has been invited to attend the ceremony.
In addition to the "Rights Exchange" section, the fellowship will feature five meetings and workshops.
Furthermore, through coordination with the Ministry’s Cultural Associations Office, the "Iran Grant" program — with a 5-billion-toman budget — will be active in the fellowship and available for finalized translation contracts.
The Iran Grant is a supportive initiative of the Islamic Republic to promote the translation of Iranian literary works into other languages.
The 36th Tehran International Book Fair is being held from May 6 to May 16, 2025, at the Imam Khomeini Mosalla, under the slogan “Let’s Read for Iran.” Alongside the in-person fair, a virtual platform is also available via book.icfi.ir for online book purchases.
