Abbas Zarei, Director General of the Printing and Publishing Office at the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance, commented on the visit of Ahmed Fakak Al-Badrani, Iraq’s Minister of Culture and Tourism, to the Tehran International Book Fair, stating:
“This visit aimed to strengthen cultural cooperation between Iran and Iraq, which has the potential to expand further.”

According to the news headquarters of the 36th Tehran International Book Fair, Zarei noted:
“In our printing section, we follow two main objectives: first, to showcase the book production line, and second, to highlight the export capacities of the publishing industry. Based on these two approaches, we gave special attention to Iraq as the guest of honor at the 36th Tehran Book Fair.”

He added:
“Last year, we exported 3,600 tons of goods to Iraq and imported 1,700 tons of metal cans.”

Zarei reiterated that the meeting with the Iraqi Minister of Culture was aimed at deepening cultural exchanges between the two countries, which could be further developed.

He continued:
“Our main focus at the fair is to introduce visitors to digital and offset book production lines. We have also placed special emphasis on the export potential in this area.”

The 36th Tehran International Book Fair began on May 6 and will run until May 16, 2025, at the Imam Khomeini Mosalla, under the slogan “Let’s Read for Iran.” The event is also being held virtually at book.icfi.ir.
