Several domestic publishers have been stripped of their license for having a pavilion in the 24th International Tehran Book Fair, according to Bahman Dorri, chief executive of the cultural event.

Those barred include three publishing institutes and a few individual publishers. They have been barred from participation on different grounds.

Several publishers have been barred for failing to present the quorum number of books for exhibition as required by an internal policy, ratified and approved by the book fair's policy council, according to the book fair's press office. They could however keep presence by putting their titles on the stalls of other publishers or delegate their pavilions to other entities.

According to Dorri, several other publishers were served the notices upon notifications by judicial authorities and police. Publication directors who have a criminal record too will be barred from the cultural event.

The 24th book fair would open to public on May 4 in the compound of Imam Khomeini Mosalla (grand mosque), north of Tehran and would run for 10 days.
