Chinese Minister of Culture is set to visit Tehran heading a 40-strong delegation to join and inspect the 24th Tehran International Tehran Book Fair (TIBF).

This is the first time that China dispatches a ministerial level delegation for the major Iranian cultural event. The delegation would also be the largest ever Chinese cultural delegation to join the TIBF event, according to the book fair's press office.

Dr. Cai Wu has an agenda of promotion of bilateral ties between the two nations during his trip which would also include an elaborate inspection of the Tehran-based book fair.

Several Chinese publishers had already set up their own pavilions in the past two preceding editions of the book fair.

The Chinese government's decision to send a top ranking delegation for the cultural event indicates the country is more willing than past to widen its cultural activities in Iran.

The 24th book fair would open to public on May 4 in the compound of Imam Khomeini Mosalla (grand mosque), north of Tehran and would run for 10 days.
