A professor with Tbilisi University hailed Iran as a major cultural capital and termed the size of welcome to the Tehran Book Fair as exceptional.

Giorgi Lobjanidze, who has won a prize in an edition of Annual Book Award staged in the Islamic Republic of Iran in 2008, said the popular welcome indicated that the Iranian enjoy a high culture and civilization to the extent that Tehran has turned into a major cultural capital in the world.

"The presence of minors alongside their relatives also proves the same idea," Lobjanidze said.

He noted he has already joined many book fair events the world over however he considered the number of visitors in Tehran Book Fair as exceptional so that Tehran Book Fair is in the footing as its counterparts overseas.

The Iran Award winner said he had been translating Golestan Sa'adi into Georgian and that a Georgian publisher, called "House of Caucasus," was contracted to release the translation.
