Scores of cultural themes arranged for 24th TIBF event

Scores of programs on different cultural themes will be carried out for the public during the 24th edition of Tehran International Book Fair (TIBF),

Chief Executive, Bahman Dorri said.

 

Speaking to the TIBF press office, Dorri asserted that there was a need for promotion of religious knowledge in the society and for the same reason the 24th edition of the major cultural event had adopted a related motto, namely "promotion of religious knowledge and cultural insight."

 

The chief executive then touched on several special titles on stalls in the 24th fair which specifically aim to elevate the motto. Leading the special titles, according to Dorri, there are new prints of 20 renditions of the Holy Koran, among others, by Ayatollah Makarem Shirazi, Elahi Qomshe'I, Ansariyan, Fouladvand, Bahrampour, and Emami.

 

Next in line are more than 300 works on the life and prospective global movement of His Holiness Imam of the Age, may our souls be sacrificed for his sake.

 

Moreover, there are more titles are on stands about Koranic studies, including several debut editions which are set to be unveiled during the fair.

 

Other special-theme titles, according to Dorri, are scores of books about Hadith studies and history of Islam, over 200 titles about the Ashura Movement, and the first edition of the 15th volume of the Encyclopedia of the World of Islam.

 

A contest too will be staged about a book on the lifestyle and biography of Hadrat Fatema Zahra (S.A.), the chief executive said.

 

As for "cultural insight," the second part of book fair's motto, Dorri cited such programs as a first ever release of a four-volume collection of photos on the run-up to the Islamic Revolution triumph (1979), 120 titles about the notion of soft warfare and the 2009 post-election seditious upheavals, and finally, a four-volumes index of manuscript books available at the library of the Islamic Revolution Leader Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei.

 

Visitors to the 24th fair will also be served with programs and titles on the Sacred Defense (1980-88), the chief executive went on to say, putting the number of the defense-related titles at up to 7,000 and citing them as reprints of over 500 novels about the eight years of defense, several titles on sacrifice and martyrdom, memoirs of IRGC and IRI Army commanders about the Liberation of Khorramshahr and other similar landmark events, as well as 20 new editions of similar themes published by the IRI Army.

 

Other cultural themes cited by Dorri were a hundred titles on media bibliography and cultural debates and several titles on trends of study nationwide.

 

The chief executive also cited two other major programs: an unveiling ceremony for "An Index of Persian Gulf, Economic Jihad and Nuclear Energy" and a commemoration ceremony in honor of Abd-el Karim Fakhrawi, a prominent publisher from Bahrain.

 

Works of the missing, prominent Iranian Alim Imam Mousa Sadr as well as a two volume title on Afghan history and music were among other titles cited by Dorri.

 

The last but not the least of the cultural programs cited by Dorri was training courses on how to restore manuscripts, a 37-volume title in English on Iran, and live broadcast by the online Iran Radio.
