TIBF authority urges interface between domestic and foreign publishers

A senior official with the 24th Tehran International Book Fair (TIBF) called the cultural event as an exceptional cultural rendezvous in the world and called on publishing associations at home to play their part in helping IRI to garner a major share in the international book market.
Muhammad-Reza Vasfi, director of the TIBF committee in international affairs told the book fair's press office Saturday that national publishing apparatus bore some undertaking in setting the stage for an interface between domestic polishers and their foreign peers.
He noted however that during the 24th TIBF like during other book fairs publishers would naturally seek to attend to the demands and needs of their audience and sell their stocks of publications thus finding few opportunities to interact with their foreign counterparts.
The director went on to say that the shortfall might be offered some remedies by publishing associations and unions at home. Vasfi elaborated that Iranian cultural associations, including publishing circles can provide the ground for face-to-face cultural exchanges between Iranian and foreign publishers.
"The mission would open new windows to Iranian publishers to offer their titles at an extensive international scene," Vasfi added.
The TIBF authority urged IRI cultural associations to help carve out a larger space for the Iranian publishing business in the international market.
The 24th International Tehran Book Fair would open to public on May 4 in the compound of Imam Khomeini Mosalla (grand mosque), north of Tehran and would run for 10 days.
