Nizar Kara, head of publications department of Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Turkey says Tehran Book Fair is an opportunity to cooperate with Iranian publishers.
Following is the full text of the interview of news headquarters of the 34th Tehran International Book Fair with Mr. Kara.
Q: Please at first introduce yourself and then describe the role of books in culture of diplomacy?
A: My name is Nizar Kara I am from ministry of Culture and Tourism of Turkey. The roll of books in cultural diplomacy is crucial. Books have an opportunity to reach peoples from different culture so for introducing our Turkish culture it is very important for us to be here with our sisters and brothers. We are here to introduce our literary and cultural books to Iranians people. Furthermore, it is good for Iranian publishers to participate in Turkish book fairs.
Q: Do you have any plan to sale book’s right to Iranian publishers?
A: As the minister of culture and tourism of Turkey, this year we have brought 6 publishers from Turkey to let them to introduce books to sell their copyrights to Iranian publishers also to find a very good best books from Iranian literature and children literature to buy their copyright for translate into Turkish.
Q: How many book’s titles have you had?
A: We have brought approximately 1000 titles but most of them are related to ministry's publications and some of them from different Turkish publishers in turkey literary books and also the books of these 6 publishers which are participating have a desk here show the number is approximately 1000 titles.
Q: What books are you publishing for the next year?
It is up to our publishers, our publishers which are here to buy Iranian publishers books and then sell some of their books to Iranian publishers. For our ministry it is important to publish renowned author’s books.
