Qatar University urged to establish Iran Chamber

IRI Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance Sayyed Muhammad Husseini urged Qatar University follow example of other Arab universities in establishing an Iran Chamber besides its already-established course in Persian Language.

 

The Iranian minister made the call during a meeting with a visiting Chief Executive of Doha Book Fair on the sidelines of the 24th edition of Tehran International Book Fair (TIBF), TIBF press office reported Thursday.

 

Husseini was invited by the Qatari side to visit an upcoming Doha Book Fair set to open on Se4ptember 12, 2011. The Iranian minister accepted the invitation, saying that the Islamic Republic had got determined to make a serious participation in the book fair especially after Doha was designated during Iran Cultural Week in Qatar as the Arab Capital of Culture.

 

The IRI culture minister said the Islamic Republic was willing to expand ties with Qatar, noting that Qatar hosts a vast number of Iranian nationals and for that reason, among others, Iran wishes to accord a strong welcome to the upcoming Doha Book Fair.

 

Mr. Ansari, Chief Executive of the Doha Book Fair for his part said he was delighted at his inspection of Tehran book fair, adding that he aimed by the visit to further enhance the existing bilateral relations between Tehran and Doha.

 

Also chief of the Qatar National Library, Ansari said such cultural exchanges as book fair inspections would serve the two countries' cultural bonds, adding that the Doha International Book Fair was set to open on December 12, 2011.

 

That would be the 22nd edition of the international book fair with 600 domestic and foreign publishers from 28 countries expected to take part, according to the Qatari authority, who expressed hope the national libraries of Iran and Qatar would expand exchanges in a near future.
