Lebanese publishers calls for translation and presentation of Persian works in Lebanon

A group of Lebanese publishers currently on a visit to Tehran for the 24^th edition of Tehran International Book Fair (TIBF) urged Thursday for translating and presentation of major Persian titles in vast numbers.

 

The Lebanese publishers made the call in a meeting with Bahman Dorri, Chief Executive of the landmark cultural event.

 

The Lebanese publishers acknowledged their adherence to the doctrine of Wilaya-te Faqih, the rule of a wise, devout jurisprudent, and said they advocate the mainstream ideas of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

 

They said in their meeting that the Zionist regime aimed to destroy Shii publications in Lebanon during its 33-day imposed war on Lebanon and that the Shii publishing centers were bombarded and largely destroyed during the invasion

 

The visiting publishers said of total 300,000 titles published of late in the country, less than two percent were authored and the rest was translated from foreign. They said taking the substantial number of precious works annually published in Iran, a translation of such works into Arabic would serve the Lebanese publication.

 

The visiting publishers also called for closer contacts and exchanges between the Lebanese publishers and their Iranian peers, noting that certain countries refuse to develop any ties with the Lebanese publishers citing their Shii ideas and the refusal had led to few opportunities for the Lebanese publishers to join cultural events and collect experiences.
