A senior former commander of the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC) called for promotion of the legacy of the Iranian Sacred Defense, the eight-year period of defense (1980-88) put up by the Iranian force against the western backed army of the executed dictator of Iraq, Saddam Hussein.

Mohsen Reza'i, the then IRGC commander general made the remarks in an interview with Iran Book News Agency (IBNA) during an inspection to the 24th edition of Tehran International Book Fair which is currently underway north of Tehran and runs until May 14.

The IRGC former commander said the young Iranians can get answers to much of their queries from such works, adding that unlike many great works, including several masterpieces, already authored in the realm, publicity work for the works has been poor, keeping them largely in obscurity.

Mohsen Reza'i said the Sacred Defense related works in the TIBF event should be further publicized and that the TIBF authorities and the IRIB national airwaves organizations should join their hands.

"Many a young individual is out there who has little knowledge about the range of works authored in the field of Sacred Defense. If such works are got known, the young generation would get answers top much of its queries," the war veteran said.

The then IRGC commander general said the Iranian nation still has many significant issues and questions to deal with concerning the imposed war, including methods of decision making and management of the wartime affairs. "Had we explain such issues in an appropriate manner, it can also be of help for non military sectors," the war veteran said.

Secretary of the System Interests Council at present, Reza'i said even the national industries can be a target of such wartime know-how texts as such texts can instruct how to pass through the hard times or make innovations.
