Negotiations for Reverse Translation in the Belgrade Book Fair
On the third day of the Belgrade Book Fair, a meeting was held between the Iranian and Serbian writers in the Iranian Pavilion. 
According to the Public Relations Department of ICFI, the meeting was held by attendance of Mohammadreza Bayrami and Mohammad Keshavarz, renowned writers from Iran, and a few Serbian writers as well as the head of Serbian Publisher Association and the Iranian Cultural Attaché, Mohsen Soleimani.
In this meeting, Mohammadreza Bayrami (a winner of the Islamic Republic of Iran’s Book of the Year Award) related a history of the children and young adults’ literature in Iran saying, “Before the Islamic Revolution, Iran had only two or three renown writers who were mainly leftists. But after the Revolution, the children and young adults’ literature grew significantly both qualitatively and quantitatively to not only approach the world standards but also be better than them in some instances.”
Then addressing the historical crises in the countries of Iran and Serbia, Bayrami added, “Many audiences are interested in knowing those crises. Because Serbian works have not translated into Persian, the Serbian literature in the field of children and young adults is not clearly known in Iran while sometimes works for other audiences like ‘The Bridge on the Drina’ by a Ivo Andrić are known to the grownups.”
Then, commenting on how literary works are translated in Iran, Mohammad Keshavarz (also a winner of the Islamic Republic of Iran’s Book of the Year Award) said, “In Iran, most of the novels and short stories are translated from languages like English, French, Russian, and Italian. In recent years, books from Turkish and Arabic have been translated into Persian as well. The works in other languages are usually translated through a second language.” 
In this meeting, also the Serbian writers presented an introduction to the status of publication industry in their country and outlined the problems and issues. They were totally interested in publication of their works in Iran and vice versa.
