The TIBF and Frankfurt Book Fair have different purposes. Frankfurt Book Fair is a commercial centre where publishers participate in to negotiate in the field of copy right and publishing. But the TIBF is a large bookstore in which people are informed about the new titles and purchase books.
Claudia Dobry, Manager of the International Projects, has attended the 30th TIBF. In her interview with the reporter of ILNA, she talked about the last times of Iran attendance in the Frankfurt Book Fair. She said, “Every year, more people come from Iran to attend the Frankfurt Book Fair. Iran has its own pavilion where special events are held and each year the number of the pavilion increases.”
In response to the question that what details must be addressed given that the cultural authorities of the TIBF believe in strengthening the exhibitive aspect of the book fair so that it is not just a bookstore, she said, “Indeed, the TIBF and Frankfurt Book Fair have different purposes. Frankfurt Book Fair is a commercial centre where publishers participate in to negotiate in the field of copy right and publishing. But the TIBF is a large bookstore in which people are informed about the new titles and purchase books.”

Dobry added, “Basically, the purpose of the TIBF is to deliver the books to the final user, whereas in Frankfurt, we address the publishing industry in a specialized manner. In Frankfurt Book Fair, many guests from different countries attend for each of which we have special events. Also this year in Tehran, we perform the same events.”
The Manager of the International Projects of Frankfurt Book Fair emphasized that the TIBF is better to have the book selling in its programme and said, “I suppose that the TIBF has to still keep the book selling section because people are not informed of the new titles properly and at least this is a good opportunity. In Germany, various catalogues and brochures are published to introduce the new titles, which are always up to date. For now, it is better that the exhibitive aspect of the TIBF happens parallel with book selling and in a new section, a special programme is arranged for keeping the exhibitive aspect.”
Then she said, “Also if Iran wants to work with the international market, obeying the copyright is one of its prerequisites. This will encourage many to attend more seriously in the TIBF.”
Explaining the type of policy making in Germany for promotion of books in mass media such as radio, TV,  etc. she reminded that, “Exactly on Fri. May 12, at 14.00 there will be a meeting on marketing for books. In Germany, newspapers introduce the new titles, radio programmes are on air for book reviews and there are many websites that discuss the books.”
